Robert the Doll is a well known Haunted doll that resides in Key West Florida and is currently the main attraction for Ghost tours in the area.
In 1896 the doll was first given to Robert Eugene Otto by a servant who is said to have been skilled in black magic and voodoo. The Otto family was known to mistreat their servants, and as the story goes this servant decided to seek revenge.
The doll is three feet tall and filled with straw, it was also created to have life like features which would endear it to its owner.
The overjoyed boy called the doll Robert and soon they became inseparable. The Otto’s often heard Eugene talk to the doll and reply in a different voice.
After that many strange things started to happen; neighbors saw the doll move from window to window while there were no people in the house. The Otto’s also are said to have heard the doll giggle and caught glimpses of the doll running about the house.
Eugene also started blaming the doll for mishaps and often he awoke from nightmares to discover that his furniture was overturned.
Finally Eugene himself got tired of the doll and hid it in the attic. Visitors in the home would often comment on hearing something walking around in the attic, often accompanied with strange giggles.
After Eugene died in 1972, his wife sold house and left the doll behind in the attic.
Years later, after Roberts tale grew forgotten and a new family had moved in, the ten year old daughter of the new inhabitants found the doll and added him to her collection. But soon after, she also screamed at nights, claiming that Robert was alive and wanted to kill her.
Robert was then donated to the Key West Martello Museum were he still resides. Surrounded by many more stories and claims of similar behavior.
