 The Vatican have been using Twitter for a while, but today was the first time the Pope has Tweeted. Pope Benedict XVI sent his first ever tweet today to introduce a new Vatican news and information portal. Using an iPad he wrote: Quote: Dear Friends, I just launched http://www.news.va/en Praised be our Lord Jesus Christ! With my prayers and blessings, Benedictus XVIless than a minute ago via Twitter for iPad. The Twitter account @news_va_en, has been active since March 9, 2010, but this is the first time that The Pope has sent a Tweet. I don't get why they are doing this, it really doesn't make anyone find them cooler...
I hate how he is turning the Church into some "club"

Well, the vatican views the church more as a business and businesses are using modern devices and social networking to appeal to their buyers so it makes sense when you look at it that way.
