Ive gotten the site reviewed and the outcome is pretty good:
First Impressions- Activity (Score: 5/5): Considering the forum is apart of a site, I’d say you’re in good shape. With almost 50k posts & 500 members, impressions on activity wouldn’t be a deciding factor in decision to join, but regardless it is an active forum.
- Template (Score: 5/5): Simple, yet effective. It has a creepy, mysterious atmospheric feeling to it that’s perfect for a paranormal board such as yourself. Nothing too spooky, but it simple & user-friendly. Two important aspects that your style consist of; good choice!
First Impressions total: 10/10Site Layout- Organization (Score: 10/10): All appears to be properly organized in its respective order/place. This happens to be one of the most organized sites/forum I’ve reviewed in a while! Nothing is wrong with your current setup, nice skill.
- Index Length/Number of Forums (Score: 10/10): You covered what needed to be covered, and remained as general as possible, thus reducing the index length/number of forums. I noticed the use of sub-forums too, good reduction method perfected quite nicely. For the size of the community, you’re ideal for this portion of the review. Great layout!
Layout total: 20/20Style- Template Layout/Color Scheme (Score: 10/10): Average layout, will do. Mainly dark colors are used, and in most cases I would oppose to using that combination, but for the whole idea of the site it is working out just fine! While it is not too spooky, it does depict the scary attitude of story telling in the dark.
- Logo/Images (Score: 6/10): The logo on the index page is fine, but the logo on the board is the one that I have concerns about. It is nothing special, and it is not unique such as the index page logo. You could either use the homepage logo, or receive another graphic with something to do with paranormals.
Style total: 16/20Site moderation- Number of Staff (Score: 5/5): Two administrators and one moderator. Perfect! Not a lot of staff for the size of the site. I’m amazed, because most overstaff, and maybe you’re understaffed. Either way, as long as you are able to manage/moderate the site with the current staff, then that is fine, too.
- Staff Activity (Score: 5/5): Activity is not an issue at all with your staff! All of them are in the upper thousands, outstanding!! No problems at all, make sure you praise your wonderful team. It is hard to fine active staff nowadays.
- Staff Professionalism (Score: 5/5): You and your staff team are active, supportive, and pro. Three aspects that are scarce in common staff. You need to make sure to keep hold of them, because it’s rare, once again.
Moderation total: 15/15Site activity- Posts Per Day (Score: 20/20): You’re receiving about 40+ posts per day. That’s an excellent amount of post considering it is also a site, and the board is an additional feature you offer. Not much improvement needed. I simply go by the philosophy if it is not broken, don’t fix it. Whatever your doing is working for you; therefore, continue doing what your doing. Remember to remain active, and you’ll be fine with the right promotion. Simply participate in the community and promote.
- Number of Members (Score: 10/10): Over 500 members is a lot, and maybe it could be higher, but I believe it has hit a point beyond free promotion. Basically, you are promoting and have promoted as much as you can on free standards, and after ranking in 500 members, I’d say you’re doing fine member-wise for statistics. Lets move onto the ratio.
- Post/Member Ratio (Score: 3/5): While you ranked in 500 members, you only have about 50 active users. That is still a good number, but I saw a lot of “0”’s in the member list, and that is not good. You seem to be doing good for yourself, and I believe a community is a community regardless of size. The members that want to participate in the discussions are doing so, and others are simply lingering around, posting little to nothing. In the end, it could be higher. Work on encouraging members to join & participate in the community by a friendly PM welcome, or any other methods would work fine, too.
Activity total: 33/35Overall mark: 94/100What could be done to improve the site: First, change the board logo. Next, work on encouraging inactive members to contribute. Revise throughout the review to find compliments to give yourself a pat on the back, and find the little flaw I found in the site to resolve the issue(s).
