Even scientists are as blocked by their beliefs as are the most outrageous religious fanatics. Faith in the truth of their beliefs blocks them from considering alternative possibilities. If one takes the care to include all possibilities in their thoughts, one will discover that understanding the universe is really a rather trivial issue.
It is interesting to examine the definition of the word “language”. The very first presentation in the
free dictionary by FARLEX is, “1a Communication of thoughts and feelings through a system of arbitrary signals, such as voice sounds, gestures, or written symbols.” The adjective “arbitrary”, as used there, has very serious consequences generally ignored by everyone.
It is their faith that those sounds, gestures and/or written symbols are not arbitrary which prevents everyone from understanding my presentations. If they are indeed arbitrary, any communication may be represented by a collection of numerical labels used as mere reference labels to the particular signals: i.e., in common parlance, any circumstance may be represented by a mathematical notation
})
(the standard representation of an “argument” in mathematics).
Likewise, an understanding of a communication can be represented by a mathematical function of that self same circumstance: i.e. the probability that a specific circumstance conveys meaningful information can be written as
})
.
Simple examination of the consequences of that adjective “arbitrary”, taking care not to eliminate any possibility, leads directly to some rather astounding consequences. That is absolutely all there is to my presentation. The problem I have is the readers utter failure to consider all possibilities; they all have too much faith in the presumption that their current beliefs are valid.
That is a very sad and deplorable state of affairs.
