This is an old debate now but where do you all stand on modifying/breeding animals that cannot feel pain, or fear, and live to be eaten rather than to live a life as an animal? How does everyone feel about this - bearing in mind animal rights, environmental philosophy, ethics and morals?

Well it might be better for the animals that are bread for meat, but It does not justify killing them. The main problem I think is that you don't only take away pain but all other feeling, and thus take away its being. I'm against this

Well you create something else, you stop the animal being the animal that it is - and then you need to question how fair this is? It's sick in my opinion.

Yea, what I said I do get their thinking though, it's tempting to take away an animals feelings in order to justify its murder. It just isn't the way. The best way is to give them some room, like a grassfield, and let them live a normal life. After that slaughter them in a painless way.

Live to be eaten without pain, fear,feelings.. I doubt to call it life. Also against it. It would be nice though if people find out how meat itself could be created in an alternate way. A sort of pack that contains mostly the same as meat itself, same taste, protein and such. Or a very good replacement of meat. But pain-free animals is quite an excuse to bypass protesting people that are against animal rights.

We do live in a world where you either eat or be eaten. I know that every day animals are going through slaughterhouses, and being genetically mutated for science experiments, but we still have to live our lives, so I just occupy myself with other things like posting on forum and everyday life stuff. If I was forced to work at a slaughterhouse, I wouldn't mind it. Yes they are animals and they should be let free and live life out in nature, but we humans are more focused on ourselves right now in the present that the Earth is as a whole in the future. We have what, 6 billion people on the earth now, and we can't feed them all. -I'm getting into a new topic, as I was saying, I just don't really care what happens to them. I'm all cool with it. Animal do have rights, they should have rights, but this just is not a just world, not everything is fair, too bad life can't be fair.

There's a difference between life being unfair and others ruining it for their own selfish gain.

I know that the animals usually don't have all to great living space but then I think back to where my grandma lives. The neighbours there breed pigs for meat. These pigs live in a dark barn and never get out, they get biological food but that's it. And oh they get slaughtered with a sledgehammer to the head. And thats biological meat, from a biological farmers farm. So after seeing that, the better commercial farms don't seem all that bad. There they have space, septate sleeping quarters, they sometimes roll up the roof to make it feel more natural. What more can anyone want for these animals?

Not all commercial farms are like that though are they, anyone who thinks they are needs to visit some.

Well the farms that I'm describing where the farms that one of our ministers visited and found very inhumane for the animals and wanted it closed. I know that there are worst ones but most of em come close to what I described in Poland.

But what is characteristic of Poland isn't characteristic of the industry, and the industry as a whole is cruel

People eat too much meat yes, some more than others eh But this is just creepy, really makes it obvious how we treat our food animals as if they weren't living creatures at all, vetetables get more respect!

I agree Zero, and the stuff which is in this meat and added to the meat is just yucky. I agree with the creepiness of this too...
