well, i think it's true actually, if the mayan civilisation had survived longer they probably would have made another calendar to be able to keep up the dates.
to say, 2012, more than a 1000 years after the end of their civilisation is already incredible.
kinda reminds me of "The International", the anthem of sovjet russia. The guy who wrote it has got it patented till 2020, altough sovjet russia's been down for more than 20 years.
